Life is hard…God is able.

Life is full of God-sized challenges.

Some of them are personal challenges…

Cancer strikes.

Accidents happen.

Relationships strain.

Kids rebel.

Life is hard.

Other challenges aren’t always so personal, but they still weigh heavy on our minds…

Terrorists attack.

Politicians fight.

People riot.

Violence erupts.

Life is messy.

Where is God in all of this…what can He even do?

Sometimes, God seems absent to us in our personal challenges because we don’t really believe that He’s present in them.

Sometimes, God seems powerless to do anything about all the other challenges because we don’t truly believe in His power to change anything.

This isn’t anything new really.

Even the people in Jesus’ hometown didn’t really believe that God was present with them when Jesus came back for a visit to Nazareth.

The power of Jesus to do anything there was limited by their unbelief.  (Mark 6:1-6)

And, that makes me wonder…

Could it be that sometimes it’s our own unbelief that keeps God from acting?

Could it be that He is closer than we think to the challenges that we face?

Could it be that His power really is able to change people’s hearts and minds…and even to heal the sick and the brokenness in our world?

Could it be that God really is able to do infinitely more than we might ever ask or think?

What do you believe?

Is God in some way being limited by your unbelief, or do you believe that He is truly able to do more than you can imagine?

Life is full of God-sized challenges.

The good news is that He is fully present and fully able to do something about them.

Life is hard…but God is able.

And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their unbelief.  Mark 6:5-6

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Ephesians 3:20
