What a tree stump taught me about legacy

tree stump title

Legacy.

Not a word we probably think about that much…at least for ourselves.

We tend to think that the word legacy is for people who make the news.

Or for the historical figures who have shaped our world.

But, what if legacy wasn’t just for them?

What if legacy was for all of us?

What if you lived the kind of life that helped other people live even after you died?

Kind of like this dead tree stump my wife came across yesterday on a hike…

The stump was clearly dead, but out of that stump grew…more life.

And, I think that’s a picture of legacy…

A picture of the legacy we should all be leaving even after we die.

Who will be impacted by your legacy?

Who will you still be giving life to even after you’re dead?

We need to start asking these questions now before it’s too late…

And all that’s left of our lives is a dead stump.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
