All of us are imitators.
As kids, we imitate our parents.
As teenagers, we imitate our friends.
As adults, we imitate our mentors.
Who (or what) we imitate shapes us. It defines who we are. It tells the world around us what matters the most to us.
The bottom line is…
We are who we imitate.
So, who are you imitating?
Who is shaping how you think?
Who is determining how you act?
Who is defining right and wrong for you?
Who is telling you what’s most important in life?
Is that who you want to be? Is that who you want to become?
You have the power to choose who you imitate. But, if you don’t make that choice, our culture will make it for you.
Our culture is who we all imitate unless we make the choice to imitate someone or something else…and really the only choice we have outside of our culture is God and those who reflect Him accurately to us.
Culture or Creator…
Who are you going to imitate?
Once you’ve made up your mind on that, the next question is…
Are you a person worth imitating?
It’s okay to be an imitator…just remember that who (or what) you imitate is who you are and who you will become.
5 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
