What will you be known for in 2015?

2015 is now less than three weeks away…

Which means it’s not too early to start thinking about setting goals or making resolutions for the new year.

I admit I’ve never been all that good at making resolutions (let alone keeping them).

But, if you asked me this question, I think I could come up with a pretty good list of goals/resolutions for next year…

What will you be known for in 2015?

(Maybe another way to ask that question is, what will you be remembered for in the future?)

2015 planning

There was a king who lived a long time ago whose name was David…I think you’ve heard of him.

He killed Goliath.

But, of all the things David did as king…all of the accomplishments and victories and prestige that went along with the title of king…do you know what David is most remembered for?

He’s most remembered for being called “a man after God’s own heart.”

Chances are if you’re reading this you’re not a king, but like David, you’re probably known for the same reasons David was known for when he was alive.

We all have titles.

We all have accomplishments.

We all have victories (things we celebrate).

Some of us may even have some prestige.

But, is that all you want to be known for?

David figured out that titles and accomplishments on this earth only get you so far.  He understood that all that stuff doesn’t last forever.

So, his life was less about his identity as a king and more about his identity as a Godly man.

Fast forward to present day, and you have a choice to make…

Will you be known more for your titles and accomplishments in 2015 (and beyond)?

Or, will you be known more for being a follower of Jesus?

The choice is up to you.

Start planning now…

We can make our own plans,
but the Lord gives the right answer.

People may be pure in their own eyes,
but the Lord examines their motives.

Commit your actions to the Lord,
and your plans will succeed.  (Proverbs 16:1-3)
