Do What You Wanna Do

“Do what you wanna do.  Amen.”

That’s it.

That’s the “prayer” of pop culture…at least according to YouTube and the United State of Pop 2014.

That’s the “prayer” over 6 million people have viewed in the last five days.

People think that true freedom is being able to “do what you wanna do.”  And, that somehow this freedom will make you happy and make your life worth living.

And they’re right…

True freedom will do all that and more.

But not the way people think.

Ever since the devil disguised himself as a snake and convinced Adam & Eve that eating an apple would give them the kind of freedom God wouldn’t give them, we’ve bought into the lie that whatever this world has to offer is better than anything God has offered us.

And, the irony in that is that God offers us something that the world claims to offer but fails to give.

True freedom.

“Do what you wanna do.  Amen.” is the prayer of a broken world seeking peace, joy, hope, pleasure, happiness, meaning, and purpose only to find out that the prayer is a lie.

True freedom is only possible when you choose to believe in the One who can give you peace, joy, hope, pleasure, happiness, meaning, and purpose.

And, that One is Jesus Christ.

So, what about you?  What do you believe?

How’s the prayer of pop culture working out for you?

Do you want true freedom?

The choice is yours…believe the lie or believe in the One called “Truth.”

“But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.”  (Galatians 3:22)

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”  (Jesus)
