Truth is…

Just when I thought the narcissistic game on Facebook had finally ended, there it was again…

You know what game I’m talking about.  The one that starts with the words “Truth is…”

I suppose the game keeps on going because anyone who plays the game can make up whatever “truth” they want to.

And, the crazy thing is, people actually believe it…

It doesn’t matter if what is said is true in real life.  Facebook said it’s true, so it must be…

What is truth, anyway?

Is truth what you believe to be true?

Is truth your opinion?

Is truth the same for everyone?

Is truth real?

Is truth fiction?

Is truth a feeling?

Does it really matter what you believe to be true or only what is actually true?  (And, how do you know the difference?)

A couple thousand years ago, a guy named Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?”

But, like a lot of people today, he didn’t really care about the answer.  He just cared about himself and what was true for him.  So, basically a narcissistic guy let a narcissistic mob of people define truth.

Truth is… Jesus was an imposter.  A self-proclaimed “King of the Jews.”  A hippie carpenter with superpowers…

Is that truth what you believe to be true?

How do you know that’s true?

Truth is… Jesus is the Messiah.  The one and only “King of the Jews.”  The God Man…

Is that truth what you believe to be true?

How do you know that’s true?

Truth is… truth matters.

Because we can’t all be true…

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one can come to the Father except through me.”  (Jesus)

(John 14:6)
