Asking for it requires you to admit you need it first.
Have you ever tried to help someone who doesn’t think they need help? Good luck with that.
Or, have you ever tried to help someone who doesn’t want your help? Good luck with that too.
To admit you need help requires stuff like humility, honesty, vulnerability…and weakness.
And, none of these things are exactly sought after virtues in our culture-where pride, selfishness, and keeping up the appearance that “I’m okay” rule the day.
The fact is we’re all weak…and God knows that.
The Bible even says that “the eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9a)
What do the “eyes of the Lord” see when he looks down on you?
Does he see someone who’s heart is fully committed to him? Does he see someone who’s willing to say, “Help…I’m weak?”
Or does he see someone who’s too proud and selfish to admit they need any help at all…let alone his help?
The Creator of the universe is waiting to help you if you would only admit you need him.
Where will your help come from today?
“I look up to the mountains-does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth!” (Psalms 121:1-2) (NLT)
