You probably never thought of yourself as a heartthrob.
That term is generally used for movie stars, rock stars, and the jock down the street. People gifted with amazing bodies and smiles and hair and voices and eyes and talent.
People who appear to have it all…
But, God redefines the term “heartthrob” in a classic scene in the Old Testament.
It sets up like the old playground line-up at recess where the teams are about to be picked for football; only the stakes are much greater because a future king is about to be chosen.
All the guys line up…all heartthrobs…all tall, dark, strong, and handsome.
And none of them get picked.
“…the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
Turns out that what makes you a heartthrob in God’s eyes is what’s on the inside.
So, what does He see when He looks inside of you?
Are you a heartthrob?
