Rock Solid

It’s happening…fall is here.

Wind.  Rain.

Lots of wind and rain.

Flooding.  Fallen trees.  Landslides.

Disruption.  Frustration.  Detoured lives.

In extreme conditions, the elements expose us.

The elements reveal what’s underneath us.  The elements strip us to our core.

Take everything away and what do you have left?

Kind of reminds me of something Jesus said about building a house.

Rock.  Sand.

Big difference between them when the storms of life start coming.

Turns out that a life built on rock is a life that doesn’t just listen to Jesus.

A life built on rock listens… and follows Jesus.

Sand listens too… but doesn’t move.

When your next “storm” comes and beats against you, what’s going to happen?

Will your life come crashing down…or will you be rock solid?

It all depends on what’s underneath…

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Matthew 7:24-27  (NIV)
