Ready

Ready.

Ready…or not.

Ready or not…here I come!

It’s classic “hide & seek.”  And you’re either ready with a good hiding spot, or you’re scrambling to find one.

The ones who are “ready” are prepared.  They already know their next move. So, they wait and watch.

The ones who aren’t ready are not prepared. They don’t have a plan.

So, they run aimlessly, without confidence, in fear of being found.

Kind of reminds me of living life as a Jesus follower…especially when it comes to sharing your story.

You’re either ready…or you’re not.

Are you ready?

1 Peter 3:15-16

“… if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.”

Fire

Fire.

It burns.  It overwhelms.  It consumes.

It takes over…

You might have heard someone say “I’m on fire for God,” and wondered what they meant.  I mean, most fires are meant to be put out before they do more damage, right?

But, on fire for God?  That’s a different story.

The prophet Jeremiah put it this way…

But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord
    or speak in his name,
his word burns in my heart like a fire.
It’s like a fire in my bones!
I am worn out trying to hold it in!
    I can’t do it!”

Jeremiah was so consumed with God, he couldn’t help but speak His Name.

Or, to put it a different way, God’s Word so overwhelmed Jeremiah, that he had to spread it.  It was burning inside of him.

He was a man on fire… for God.
